Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences of SEND transport through our annual survey and recent feedback.

We have now met with NNC’s Transport Team to discuss what families told us. There are encouraging signs of improvement, including earlier confirmation of arrangements and a simpler application process. However, experiences remain mixed, and we raised continuing concerns about:

• Communication and unanswered enquiries
• Transport not being ready at the start of term
• Consistency of drivers and passenger assistants 
• Journey length and suitability
• Safeguarding, medical needs and staff conduct
• Post-16 decisions and delayed EHCP updates

The Transport Team has committed to further work, including clearer information for families, stronger operator-quality monitoring and reporting back on what has changed because of your feedback.

We will share a fuller “You said, we did” and what still needs to happen” update at our next SEND workshops in October and November.
